Some materials purchased
- Carbon Fibre Vinyl
- Adhesive Spray
- Carpet
- Aluminium Plate
I’ve just ordered a few materials for the cockpt.
- Carbon Fibre Vinyl – 1000mm x 610mm
- Carpet
- Spray Adhesive
- Aluminium Plate – 500mm x 500mm x 3mm
All purchased from Ebay for a very reasonable price.
The Vinyl is 1m x 0.6m and has self adhesive on the back, so that will make it super-easy to stick onto the cockpit. It cost £9.99
The carpet is 2m x 1.35m, and cost £9.99.
The self adhesive will be used to stick the carpet to the inside of the cockpit, this cost £2.49.
The Aluminium plate is 50cm x 50cm x 0.3cm. I will mount my pedals to this. It cost me £10.
These links will take you to the product pages.

Let me know if that carbon is “real” vinyl, the one you can stretch like rubber. I mistakenly purchased the wrong one. Looks awsome but it wont stretch for mm, even with heat gun…

Roso, I don’t think the vinyl is stretchy like rubber. I’m yet to use it, but it feels like any vinyl would. It’s flexible, but not stretchy.

Yes, I meant flexible, but english is not my first language. I have the same as yours and it has great texture but it’s the one that won’t conform curved surfaces very good. It’s ok if you don’t need it to do so, but i have to stretch it litle. I ordered this one:

Carbon texture looks poor to yours but i hope it will be like I wont it. Man who works with this kind of graphics told me it should not be “shiny or mettalic” from the “sticky” side.
You see in this video what I expect from real vinyl (and you can see it has black other side):

Ah yea! That looks a little different to the one I have. I’m not sure if it is the same type of product. That is called Vinyl Film and requires heating also.
The one I have is simple a vinyl, which I assume is slightly thicker, therefore less flexible. Good to see you following the blog Roso!
